About the Role
As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing Google’s network infrastructure. This involves designing and implementing network solutions, addressing customer connectivity issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and reliable network performance. You’ll be part of Google’s Technical Infrastructure team, a group that supports everything from data centers to cutting-edge platform development.
Your Responsibilities
- Provide operational support for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) customers and internal teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and performance issues.
- Validate and test customer configurations in a lab environment.
- Automate workflows to enhance the customer experience.
- Contribute to process improvements and service delivery automation.
- Lead documentation updates, playbook creation, and training for support teams.
- Participate in on-call rotations to address escalated issues.
What We’re Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 1 year of experience with network routing protocols, design, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in planning and designing multi-site networks with diverse products.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Python scripting and familiarity with data structures and algorithms.
- Background in customer-facing roles at ISPs, carriers, or Content Delivery Networks (CDNs).
- Knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN) and cloud networking (e.g., VPC, Security Group).
- Understanding of Linux server environments and network infrastructure management.
